You have my deepest condolences in the loss of your little Benjamin. and I to feel your pain for your life distroyed by a system under the discuise of justice. Your story of how the system worked aganst you and your wife is a spitting image of what my Daughter has just gone through, the circumstances being not as tragic as the loss of your child th death but tergic enoff to distroy the lives of my daugher and my two young grandsons by her incarrceration with a 40 year sentence. The way you have of the events and how everything was played out in court is just as if it has been rehursed over and over again. My heart is with you and if you make any headway in getting your wife released please keep me posted on your tacticesso maybe I can use them for my Daughters release. God Bless you and give you stringth to carry on and Good luck. 9/8/2006 1:24:24

I just read your story and it brought tears to my eyes. I am so sorry that you and your wife are having to suffer in such a manner. A terrible injustice has occurred. My thoughts and prayers are with you. God Bless.

Just a P.S. If it helps any John, I am working on my own book "Tarnished Badges" that covers events in the same geographical areas.

Some of the same people mentioned in this are people I have had the displeasure to know and their misdeeds are what ultimately drove me from Law enforcement.

Former MBCC Officer

There are alot of excellent Correctional Officers at MBCC - Not all of them treat inmates bad. I talked to Ms. Schoonover numerous times - My prayers are with your family during these trying times - I have always treated inmates with respect and have received much respect from them - I cannot even begin to imagine the pain of loosing a child much less to be in prison for something I did not do - Ms. Schoonover made something very beautiful for me but I was not allowed to accept it due to the policies we must follow - but just the thought was enough for me! I know you know who this is from - John, I do not know you - but Marie talked so much about you - Just know that everything will come to light - "Gods word says - Come unto me & I WILL show you great and mighty things which you have not seen".

John and Marie... Do NOT become weary in doing well... for in due time... you WILL reap a harvest... and the compassion God is placing within both of your hearts for hurting people... will benefit many. Always remember that GOD is the rewarder of those who seek Him diligently and He will make a way where there may seem to be none. God bless you both.

Former Officer at MB

The more I read about Mrs Schoonover, the more ticked I get. Again, I know how the officers treat the inmates at MB. They treat them like dogs. I bet about 40% of the 'officers' need to be behind bars themselves. There is more drugs in that prison than in any other. And the drugs aren't coming in through the mail. What about a former wardens son getting an inmate pregnant and that inmate being sent back to Hawaii? Last I heard the inmate had about a $10 million law suit pending. also, I wonder how many female officers have left their husbands or male officers that have left their wives because they met and 'hooked up' with an inmate? I tell you, its more than you think. I can't believe I worked there as long as I did. It was horrible. PS I didn't put in the correct email for obvious reasons. I still live in that town and quite frankly, I don't trust anyone that works there.

Former Mabel Bassett Officer

I hope all goes well with Mrs. Schoonover. I worked there for 2 1/2 years before and I can tell you one thing. The way it was explained how officers treat the ladies at MB is correct. Some officers are good people, but some are down right aweful. I couldn't stand to see the way some guards treated the inmates and really ticked me off at times. Good luck to Mrs. Schoonover and God Bless.

I do prison ministry at Mabel Bassett. Gilda Marie has always kept the faith that God would get her released. She is standing strong on her faith. And, she knows her husband loves her and is fighting for her! That's important. I know the day will come when she's allowed to go home!

I am just OUTRAGED at the treatment that Marie is getting! There should be something all of us could do about things like this! Marie is such a sweet lady; and doesn't deserve to be treated like this. The staff is who needs to be investigated! Everyone who reads this story ...join us in "fighting" injustice so it won't keep happening. Use the power of the pen to fight for those who can't fight for themselves. They deserve our help! God bless you John and Marie.

True accidents do happen and the lose of a precious child is a punishment that a mother has to live with for the rest of her life. May God be with Marie and her family as they go through life without this miracle of God with them. Please add my name to the list.
